The Survival & Early Childhood Global Resource Curriculum (GRC) contains 23 Home Visit lessons designed for a group we affectionately call “Crawlers.” Children in the 1-2 year-old age group are active and curious, developing physically, emotionally, socially and cognitively at a rapid rate. Lesson topics for Caregivers of “Crawlers” include: creating daily routines and boundaries, understanding separation anxiety, developing social interaction with other children, encouraging self-expression through art and music, basic language development and pre-literacy activities, identifying emotions, developing motor skills and learning parenting techniques.
Home Visit lesson plans generally contain learning objectives, a materials list and directions for preparation. Each lesson includes a brief mental and physical health check, reflection time to review the previous lesson, spiritual mentoring, learning activities, developmental activities, learning reflection time, an action plan and/or homework, and a closing prayer.
Note: The language in these lessons primarily references mothers as the caregiver. However, the content applies to any primary caregiver – father, grandmother, guardian, etc. Feel free to tweak the language to fit your context as appropriate.
