The lesson “Newborn Concerns and Illnesses” equips the mother to understand the importance of putting her baby to sleep on his/her back. She will be able to demonstrate how she is keeping the baby warm, discuss whether she is breastfeeding her baby regularly (if appropriate) and monitor her baby for proper weight gain. This lesson also helps the mother recognize symptoms that require immediate medical care for her newborn and any concerns regarding her baby’s health and equips her to apply appropriate solutions.
