The lesson “I Can Taste Different Tastes” is part four of a 42 part series on parts of the human body, health, and safety. This lesson teaches about the sense of taste, with the nose and the tongue being central to the sense of taste. Students learn basic anatomy and about different parts of the tongue used for tasting sweet, salty, or bitter foods. This resource includes a lesson plan for the teacher on how to prepare beforehand, class-time content to facilitate learning about the sense of taste, hands-on activities facilitating further learning, and a teacher assessment at the end. This lesson is designed for a group of young children between the ages of 3 and 5, and is the fourth physical development lesson in the Core Curriculum, 3-5 years, Year One.
