The Ministry of Gender, Children, Disability and Social Welfare in collaboration with Ministry of Ministry of Education, Science and Technology is pleased to have developed this child protection training manual for teachers. The manual seeks to equip teachers with knowledge and skills in dealing with a myriad of child protection issues learners face in schools, homes, on the way to and from school. In schools, just like any other places, learners should feel safe and secure if they are to concentrate on their studies; achieve education results; and eventually become productive citizens. It is, however, saddening to note that corporal punishment is being administered in schools and that learners are exposed to sexual and forms of abuses. The main areas covered in this manual include: child rights, child protection, child protection case management, laws and policies related to child protection, and roles of a teacher in child protection.
