The lesson “How to Prevent and Treat Drowning” helps the mother/caregiver identify bodies of water that pose a risk of drowning for infants and small children. She will also learn key words that identify protective actions to take to prevent drowning. She will learn how to carry an infant/child out of a body of water, and how to position a child who has experienced a possible drowning and use the correct technique in giving the Heimlich maneuver and artificial respirations to her child if the child is not breathing.
ForChildren.com, presented by Compassion International, offers ideas, learning opportunities and relationships to help equip people who work with children-at-risk.
